Salut,
je désespère un peu là, plus moyen de faire marcher java dans firefox depuis quelques temps. J'ai bien le USE "java", mais rien concernant java dans about:plugin. J'ai blackdown-jre et jdk d'installés. Je sais plus trop de quel côté chercher.
Les versions installées :
www-client/mozilla-firefox-1.0.6-r7 *
www-client/mozilla-launcher-1.42 *
dev-java/blackdown-jre-1.4.2.02 *
dev-java/blackdown-jdk-1.4.2.02 *
Je vais quand même essayer avec d'autres machines java, mais bon ça marchait jusque là et sur d'autres machines ça va. Donc si quelqu'un a une idée.

Essayes simplement (pour commencer) de créer un nouveau profil avec firefox :

| Je rectifie, c'est dans about:config que je n'ai rien concernant java, alors que je devrais si je compare avec d'autres machines. |

Oui, c'est ce que j'avais compris 
Question à 3 ct d', mais je la pose quand même 
Java est bien activé dans firefox ? (Edition --> préférences --> Fonctionnalités Web)
Si tu lances firefox à partir d'une console, et que tu essaies d'utiliser un applet java, tu n'as pas de warning ou d'erreur qui apparait dans la console ?
Sinon, tu n'as pas de problèmes similaires avec d'autres applis utilisant java (autre navigateur, openoffice, ...) ?
As tu tenté un petit revdep-rebuild -p pour voir s'il n'y avait rien d'anormal ? |

Oui j'avais bien vérifié le "enable java" dans les préférences et tenté le revdep-rebuild. Et pas d'erreur dans la console non plus.
Mais j'ai finalement résolu le problème en rajoutant le USE mozilla en installant blackdown. Ce qui est étrange, c'est que je n'avais pas touché à ce USE et mes autres machines l'ont pas.
Bref, problème (à la con) résolu.

Voici probablement ce qui t'es arrivé.
Regardes si sur tes autres machines tu as le useflag browserplugin. |
