|
|
Hello there. I'm new to Gentoo (was running FC4, wanted to try something different). I downloaded the universal CD and pacakges CD so that I could do a networkless install. When I boot off the CD (I also tried doing a network install and had the same result), that command line is below the visible area of the screen. It is acting like the resolution of the install environment is too high for the monitor and it it only displaying the upper-left corner. Thus, if I type anything, I can't see it on the screen until I hit enter about 10 times. Is there anything I can do to get the prompt to be visible?
I did run a search on the forums and turned up nothing. Thanks for your help.

If you had a KNOPPIX cd, I would recommend you try that.
Installing Gentoo from KNOPPIX is normally easier in many ways, but networkless installs suck. _________________ "Mr Thomas Edison has been up on the two previous nights discovering 'a bug' in his phonograph." --Pall Mall Gazette (1889)

I had the same problem when installing on an old Toshiba laptop. At the initial boot prompt instead of just hitting enter I typed gentoo-nofb and that solved the problem---don't really understand why (noob), but it would only take you 5 seconds to try it. |
