apache multiple domains - one site

Hello, ok i am about to start a little email service project with a hundred or so domains, i have dedicated server ready to go just looking for feedback on setup.

I plan on using socket mail for front end on main domain but need to setup catchall email accounts for rest of domains.

Don't really want to add 100+ virtual hosts if i don't need to, of course if some tries to go to a domain from which i am servicing email i would like them to end up at main domain (socketmail) site.

So can i setup domains without them having dir in /var/www/ ?

If so i take the POP3 mail will be stored in /var/spool/mail waiting for socket mail to collect it?

Any suggestions for getting gentoo setup to serve this project?


The server is dual 1gig P3 4gb mem, 2x18gb scsi ultra160 in SW Riad 1 also have 2x160gb sata drives.
