I apologize if this is the wrong place.

I have a Lexmark Z53 connected to a DLink DI-704P router with built-in print server. Previous investigating has told me that the print server on the router is running LPD/LPR. The router's manual says the printer name is "lp."

I downloaded the driver from Lexmark and unpacked it into the right directories. Got the .ppd from linuxprinting.org, and used the foomatic kit from the same place to initially setup the printer as local parallel (it wasn't really connected to the parallel)
On CUPS (using the web interface) i changed the printer to lpd://aaa.bbb.ccc.ddd/lp. but it doens't look like the jobs are getting to the router. the job history says all the jobs were cancelled and the log on the router doesn't register anything coming from my linux box at all.

Does anyone have any experience with this kind of setup?

I don't believe the lexmark binary driver can send data to a remote printer. It can only control printers directly connected to the comp. You might want to try the z52 driver included with the gimp-print-cups package. It never worked quite right for me though. I ended up hooking the printer to the linux box and sharing it via samba.
