cursor animations flicker when windows redraw

ok so, when i use animated cursors (HWCursor off, by the way) and the window that the cursor is over redraws, the animation flickers. this is bearable when for example, scrolling in firefox, but it really gets intense when i play a game that uses regular cursors (like pingus), that redraw the screen 60 times per second, it's flickering like mad. does anyone know if there's a way to stop this flickering?
