you said that to me before, but seriously, pjp, i dont think i can describe more, without simply being insane, "hello. i have written a howto on setting up mod_auth_mysql with apache2, and how to use it with basic user/group authentication on a location" is simply describing it, there is no more to it. |

Thats OK. It just makes it inappropriate for DT&T. _________________ Quis separabit? Quo animo? |

In DT&T you're supposed to post the entire howto, not just say "Hey look what I wrote somewhere else" and then post the link there. |

and how so? but ofcourse, if you view a howto which provides the nessecary information and guidelines to get something running horrible, then i guess it is..
fact is, i have recieved thanks from many people about my howtos, and you are the first to say one of them is horrible, and since you dont come with any concrete flaws i have no choice but to add you to my moron list OVER ciaranm(he atleast gives reasons for his opinions), |

Redeeman: there are some reasons why we ask people not to post links to howtos in the DT&T forum, mainly that a link is much harder to find than a full howto if searching for some terms. Also, collections of links tend to break with error 404 quite fast. The worst happening with a howto that's posted here is that it becomes outdated, and in that case others can still reply stating how to fix the problem. _________________ Dinosaur week! well.. mine will not 404 quick, and should the url somehow become obsolete, i will update them.. i have a list of posts, in case this happens.. anywho, that is fine, it seems people dont want me to post my howto here, and that is fine, but from going from that, and to saying that my howto is horrible like "weezernic" did just serves to show that some people better stay back in their little hole, and that their ISP should cut their connection. |

Sure, and i believe you. As with all policies there are cases where they make more and cases where they make less sense. I don't understand the big problem though - it doesn't exactly fit the description of DT&T, so it's in Gentoo Chat now. _________________ Dinosaur week! (Ok, this thread is so last week) |
