I'm setting up ePSXe and FF7 on my intel centrino laptop, but I've run into some issues. I use Pete's MesaGl driver 1.75 and peops alsa driver 1.9, and using full software framebuffer access and putting framebuffer textures in emulated vram works, but at constant 100% cpu. So, my problems arise when trying to use gfx card [855gm] to do these things. Then transition to battle mode takes approx. a minute, and the sound gets REALLY choppy.
So my question is; what tweaks will I have to do to make this work properly? Has anyone else had this problem?
If you have a nicely working config, would you care to share it with me? I'm emulationly retarted.

MesaGL is software rendering, and that makes the cpu to do all the hard work of the graphics render. You would need another opengl driver, not based in mesa. I dont know if there is anything in portage, and im not an expert in epsxe neither, so you might need to search for the plugin in the net. Maybe a more expert gamer around here can give you better advice. |

I tried using Pete's XGL2 driver 2.7, but ended up with little beauty before it quit. So, I still need help.
Code: | * Init gpu[0][libgpuPeteXGL2.so.2.0.7]
Gdk-ERROR **: GLXUnsupportedPrivateRequest
serial 42 error_code 167 request_code 144 minor_code 16

You say that MesaGL is software rendering, and my glxinfo says:
Code: | OpenGL vendor string: Tungsten Graphics, Inc
OpenGL renderer string: Mesa DRI Intel(R) 852GM/855GM 20040919 x86/MMX/SSE2
OpenGL version string: 1.3 Mesa 6.2.1
OpenGL extensions:

Does this mean that all rendering on my laptop is done through software? _________________ Screenshot of the month |
