Hi,
Ima trying to get the network working on my proliant 1850R. I think that the correct driver for the network card is tlan, the card is something like Compaq Netelligent 10/100 TX UTP. Iam using a genkernel and the driver does not get loaded automatically, i have to put it in /etc/modules.autload.d/kernel-2.6.
When i try to ping ipnumbers/hostnames i get: network unreachable.
I also tried the following: Code: | ifconfig eth0 down
iconfig eth0 xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx broadcast xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx netmask xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx up
route add default gw xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx
SIOCADDRT: network unreachable | I have also tried to add alias eth0 tlan to the file that modules-update reads in. Any suggestions? Compile tlan in to the kernel, hope not genkernel takes soooo long time. |

The question has nothing to do with DNS. _________________ "Mr Thomas Edison has been up on the two previous nights discovering 'a bug' in his phonograph." --Pall Mall Gazette (1889)

Clearly. But I believe the author's reasoning is sound and the concept is valid and applicable to this and most other scenarios where IP information may be needed to analyze a problem. _________________ WYSIWYG - What You See Is What You Grep |

Your network and your gateway are on different subnets. _________________ WYSIWYG - What You See Is What You Grep |
