Allora premetto che ho impostato cosi la variabile USE:
USE="-qt -kde gtk2 gnome"
e facendo:
# emerge gnome
Mi ritrovo:
Calculating dependencies: \QA Notice: has_versione() in global scope: eclass gtk-engines2
QANotice: has_version() in global scope: eclass gtk-engines2
QANotice: USE Flag gtk2 not in IUSE for z11-themes/gtk-engines-2.6.2
....
....
....
!! Failes to complete python imports. ....
ed esce dall'emerge...

Dovresti postare un po' di più di righe inerenti al tuo errore altrimenti nessuno può aiutarti 
P.S: Inoltre già che ci sei posta l'output di "emerge --info" |
