Hello..


My quake3 wont start.
I have the latest ~x86 nvidia kernel&glx from portage..

eselect opengl list shows that I'm using nvidia-opengl.

glxgears works just fine, and I get around ~15k fps.. so opengl apperantly works flawless.


but I get this when I try to run quake3:

Can you do anything else without problem?

yes yes, ofcourse.. even did a reboot ;)

had the same problem with a different kernel and some guys said I had a kernel that didn't work well with q3 etc etc..

I have tried running doom3 with similar results.. I must have forgotten to compile something in the kernel or something like that :/ but I dunno why... Have compiled many kernels before with good results.. but I had an ATI-card before.. so maybe I need something else with my nvidia card?

My kernel is compiled with MTRR-support... everything seems to be good :/

I would personally try to compile my own Quake3, instead of using the iD one.

Remove the omit dga item in your x config, restart x.

I had a similar problem - the pak0.pk3 file from the CD went in the wrong folder :wink:

no, they are in the /opt/quake3/baseq3 dir. and the priv's are right... user:root group:games.. privs: 640.


it says xfree86-dga missing at display :0.0
and that it doesn't find and XF86DGA-Mouse..

thats the only errors I can find...

with the omit xfree86-dga in my xorg.conf

the game "almost starts", because the screen goes black in full screen for a second or two.. without the omit dga the error appears almost directly.
