How can I run a file in an already running application? Whenever I try to open media files for example, another instance of the application is started. |

It happens in all programs. Xmms is the only program that plays/runs files in an already running program. Whenever I download a torrent file, or tries to play a movie in mplayer, the files are not opened in already running programs, but a new mplayer/azureus/etc are opened. I know I can open the files in the program, but I would like to just click on them like in Windows. |

I can open the files by clicking on them, thats not a problem. What I want is the file to be opened in an already running application instead of starting a new one. If I am watching a movie in mplayer and I click on another movie file, I don't want another mplayer starting, but I want the file to be played in the mplayer that was already playing a movie. |

That is not a kde issue, and depends on the program itself. For example, kaffeine would behave exactly as you like. For other programs may be a command line option to enqueue, so, you would need to modify your service menu to use that option.
@eldzis, relax, we all know about the file menu, s/he is asking another question. How to open a file from konqueror and put it in an already existing session of the program, instead opening a new one. |
