Hello, i tried mplayer but didnt like it. So i make
Quote:
emerge -C mplayer

i still unsure if i use the right command to uninstall..

Than i want to try ffmpeg and vlc where after emerging i couldnt work with them. When i click on teheir icons nothing happens. Now i want to try xine i hope it will work.

What my question is, is there a program like add/remove program thing in windows?

Regards

Judas

If you want a GUI with VLC, you'll need to have the "wxwindows" USE-flag set. Set it, then do
Code:
emerge --update --deep --newuse world
You can then start VLC by typing "wxvlc" in a terminal. There's several frontends for Xine, like GXine or Kaffeine. What package did you emerge?
As for uninstalling programs see this: http://www.gentoo.org/doc/en/handbook/handbook-x86.xml?part=2&chap=1

emerge porthole
It's just a front-end to "emerge".

Porthole has the option to remove a program in the advanced emerge dialog, but we do not yet have the option to Clean out any no longer needed dependencies. (it is on our TODO list, or will be.)
