Hi folks.
I installed my Winchester box again in a clean, fresh & shiny manner. Yesterday I wanted to prelink my box, but after typing "prelink -afmR"... nothing happened and half a second later I got the prompt back. No error-message, no nothing.
I know that during the last days of my old system (before re-installing) I had the same problem, but I thought for myself "that's exactly why to re-install again" . So it seems not to be a problem of a borked install.
I searched the forums and read a thread about some looping symlinks that could cause the problem. Before looking for hours my filesystem, maybe s.o. has already found out what's wrong on AMD64. _________________ Heaven: The police are British, the chefs Italian, the mechanics German, the lovers French and it's organized by the Swiss.

I had the same problem a few weeks ago, and it was symlinks. Basically every lib64 directory on my system (eg /usr/lib64, /lib64, etc) had a symlink that pointed to lib64 (eg /usr/lib64/lib64 -> lib64), which makes prelink keep following it. Try looking at this thread:

Yep, thanks. Can confirm this. I also found this sym-(link-)loops in every of my lib64-directories [/lib64, /usr/lib64, /usr/local/lib64] and deleted them.
Nevertheless... thanks. Prelink works again. _________________ Heaven: The police are British, the chefs Italian, the mechanics German, the lovers French and it's organized by the Swiss.
