Yelp & dipendenza firefox-non-bin [RISOLTO]

ciao a tutti
stavo effettuando un upgrade e pare che gnome-extra/yelp richieda di compilare mozilla-firefox come dipendenza.

io ho mozilla-firefox-bin, e non vorrei avere 2 versione di firefox inutilmente installate sul pc.

se tolgo la useflag firefox da yelp, tale pacchetto richiede comunque mozilla, sempre in versione non-bin.

come posso risolvere il problema e tenere solamente firefox-bin ?

Puoi provare ad inserirlo nel file /etc/portage/profile/package.provided

non ho /etc/portage/profile. in /etc/portage ho solamente package.mask e la directory sets vuota

puo' darsi che possa compilare con gecko-sdk...ma non so, e comunque bisogna cambiare qualcosa nel codice. Pero' gecko-sdk ci mette a compilare tanto quanto firefox (anzi, 5 minuti in piu' da me), per cui forse ti conviene installare il firefox-non-bin. Si puo' invece compilare con thunderbird (mi pare), per cui se ce l'hai non bin possiamo provare a modificare un pelo l'ebuild...

come posso fare? devo creare il file package.provided? la sintassi è la stessa di package.mask?

Hai provato a disattivare la use firefox.

Puoi scegliere di farlo globalmente (in tal caso editi la variabile USE in make.conf) o localmente per il pacchetto in questione.

In questo ultimo caso basta aggiungere al file /etc/portage/package.use una entry del tipo:

grazie della risposta, però eliminando la use firefox si riattiva automaticamente la dipendenza di mozilla-non-bin e siamo al punto di partenza ..

La versione 2.6.5 di yelp non ha bisogno mozilla come dipendenza, puoi risolvere semplicemente non aggiornando. se invece vuoi proprio aggiornare e non vuoi compilare mozilla usa un pacchetto precompilato.

si è vero. però non stavo tentando di installare yelp senza nessun browser, già ce l'avevo! solo che era già compilato, mentre yelp richiede firefox o mozilla in versione sorgenti

No era giusto! Non c'è la use mozilla perchè una delle due è necessaria. Quindi se non è firefox per esclusione è l'altro...
