I just installed Gentoo 1.4 RC3 (Actually I started with the RC2 cd and just downloaded and unpacked the RC3 files) and the timezone files are not present. Did I possibly miss a step? Any ideas? |

I take it this is after you've done the install. The zoneinfo files should be there after emerge sync and emerge system. Search around on the forum, there are more people with this problem. Maybe somewhere there is a solution that works for you. Otherwise I suggest you start with a stage3, then you definitely have those files and you can still rebuild your whole system with your optimizations when you do emerge -e world.
edit: another thought: have you tried env-update? _________________ "Those who deny freedom to others deserve it not for themselves." - Abraham Lincoln

There's a bug about it: #16656
Anyway, I simply did that step after bootstrap, I think zoneinfo is created compiling glibc. |

I found it. The necessary files are not actually installed yet at the point in the directions where it tells you to work with them. If you wait until you are done emerging the system they are already there. Reguards. |
