|
|
I have some experience with linux and sound, and know that at times it can be difficult. I just completed a gentoo install, and thus far am amazed with gentoo, but my sound card is not detected/working/whatever. Do i need drivers like in windows? or is there a different procedure?
I am using kde, and i know that kde has a 'sound server'. Here is the error i get when i go to the sound configurationg in kde configuration:
"unable to start the sound serverto retrieve possible sound i/o methods. only automatic detection will be available"
I have a Soundblaster Audigy 2ZS pci card. I checked the soundblaster site...they report nothing to offer.
Thanks

You might want to take a look at the Gentoo Alsa Guide. Basically what you do is make sure support for your card has been enabled in the kernel, install the alsa support libs and utilities, configure the alsa modules, then start alsasound. _________________ Time is what keeps everything from happening all at once. |

Have you unmuted the channels as mentioned in the Gentoo ALSA Guide? _________________ ~~ Peter: Programmer, Mathematician, STEM & Free Software Advocate, Enlightened Agent, Transhumanist, Fedora contributor
