|
|
Quick Questions:
1.) I am seeing an ismod error before getting to the initial cdimage root prompt after inserting the stage 3 CD. Is this of unsurmountable importance, or will this eror be "resolved" through the installation?
2.) Per the Installation Instructions: Stage 3 requires:
partition/filesystem setup, emerge sync, final configuration.
Is that all I have to be concerned about, I can safely skip ALL other steps in order to correctly install a WORKING gentoo 1.4_rc3 stage 3 system?
Remaining patient...........................
TIA |

If the CD-ROM drive is working, your network is working and you can read/write from your hard disks then don't work about it.
Bare minimum steps needed to get a system going:
Disk partitioning / formatting.
Load modules for network, config network.
Mount partitions, extract stage tarball to disk.
Emerge sync.
Get a kernel and compile.
Edit fstab.
Configure bootloader. |
