Remote glxinfo kills Xserver

I am running Nvidia Geoforce4 MX420 on XFree86 4.2.1
opengl is working fine and glxgears/glxinfo on the local machine give the correct accelerated output.
The problem is that i want to use CAD program(CFX) installed on an SGI machine, on exporting the display and executing the program , kills my xserver
even executing glxinfo on the SGI machine kills the xserver on my pc.

is there any bug in the nvidia libraries?? i could manage to execute the CAD using vmware(windows+exceed+exceed3d) in linux.
But i dont want to run vmware everytime for this!!!!

alright i did some experimentation, i booted from knoppix sshed into the sgi machine and fired glxinfo
and behold!! the xserver doesnt get killed and CAD proggie works perfectly!!
The glxinfo returned was

i see that knoppix is using Mesa libraries but then how the hell it is able to use opengl, until now i was under the impression that mesa libraries dont work properly with nvidia cards.
will somebody enlighten me on this, how come knoppix is working wonderfully but gentoo isnt.
and if mesa works correctly, just a emerge mesa would help??
