Hi!
I've just installed Gentoo on my laptop (using an universial CD). There is only one problem.
When I'm using Gentoo I can't go to the Internet. I use ifconfig and the network looks fine.
In Windows I've not problem with the network.
When I'm trying </etc/init.d/net.eth0 [start | restart]> , but when Gentoo is trying to run dhcpcd
[...... Running dhcpcd] It stop her.
In </var/run/> there isn't any file from dhcpcd..
I try VMware with Gentoo on Windows, here everythings works fine.
I hope somebody can help me. I'll be thanksful.

I've try to use Fedora, and it's works fine. It use the same module as Gentoo. Don't understand why it won't work in Gentoo.

I've now a temp. solution of this problem.
When using the Gentoo livecd load the kernel with this:
gentoo nohotplug nofirewire
After booting, remenber to load the network module
modprobe r8169
When compiling the kernel (menuconfig)
Bus options
--> PCI Hotplug Support
--> Support for PCI Hotplug [OFF]
Device Drivers
--> IEEE 1394 (FireWire) support
--> IEEE 1394 (FireWire) [OFF] |

I've got something similar,
start up with liveCD and emerge dhcpcd _________________ IK BEN GEK |
