kernel 2.6.14_rc3 and hostap-driver

I just upgraded my laptop to kernel 2.6.14_rc2/3 and my wireless drivers have ceased to function.

When using the stable hostap-driver no wireless interfaces would show up. I upgraded to unstable hostap-driver and now I see the wireless interface but when I run wpa_supplicant the card never actually makes a connection with a base station. I can tell this because the MAC of the base station stays as 44:44:44:44:44:44 in iwconfig.

This setup works fully with gentoo-sources 2.6.12 based kernels. I should also note that I am using unstable wireless-tools.

Does anyone know about whats changed with wireless support in the 2.6.14 kernels and how to make my card work again?
