This is localhost.(none) (Linux i686 2.6.12-gentoo-r10) 15:28:29
localhost login: root
Login incorrect
I suspect this may be due PAM, Ive tryed upgrading portage, still im getting same error.
pls anyone fixed this kind of error, pls hlp me to fix it.
Thnx & Regards,
Ramesh. |

so can you log in as a user?
you can boot from the livecd, mount your partitions, chroot and change the root password. |

NEVER EVER forget to set the password for the root account before rebooting after installation!!
You can set your root password by doing it as Scorpaen said:
1. boot from the live-cd
2. mount the partitions
3. chroot into the system
4. change password to the root account |

Once it is done try to change the root password if that works everything is fine and you can do whatever you want with your new gentoo machine... |

just go:
emerge kde
or
emerge gnome (I Think)
Once you do this, X will emerge automatically since it is a dependancy at the same time as emerging the one you picked |
