What is "echon" and how do I install it?

I was just installing LabView on my laptop and desktop machines, and all went fine on my laptop, however, when trying to do the desktop installation, I get a lot of errors telling me ./INSTALL: line 709: echon: command not found.

I've checked the installation scripts, and it seems that the command is used at the points where a question is asked (e.g. echon "$dir does not exist. Create? [yn] ". I've searched both systems (as root) using slocate and whereis, but neither can find any reference to a command "echon", so I'm unsure as to why it worked fine on the laptop.

Anyone know what's going on here?

looks like a typo - it should be "echo" for some output
