|

Hi
I have a gentoo box running inside vmware, so I can use my windows connection (still couldn't make it work on the real machine)
And I see that all the kde gadgets (butons, bars, etc) has a nice and polished fade-out efect
But in the real pc (which is configured just like the virtual one) all the gadgets backgound appear in plain gray color.
Is there some setting I'm mssing
Saludos
Sas
PS: Right now I'm using the lipstick style, but it happens with everyone

Hey,
As far as I know all of the controls are in the kde control center, so if what you are looking for is not there it is probably in a conf file somewhere. I am a little confused on what you want to do. I know that from the control center you can make the toolbar transparent, so if you want that it's in the control center. _________________ I think that the forums are the greatest thing about Gentoo, thanks to everyone that posts on them!

(I don't mean the transparent effect. I mean -don't know how to call it in english.. fade-out, degradé, dim?- the effect you can see in the scrollbars an buttons, in which the upper side of the gadget is lighter than the lower one, giving it a fade-out effect.. just like the banner up here that says "Author" and "Message"... see what I mean?)
I found out what happened, kind of strange...
I had selected a modified color scheme of my own.
I that color scheme, tab bars and buttons appeared on a plain color.
I selected some other default color scheme (let's say plastik), then I clicked Apply, but the colors kept lookin plain.
Yesterday I realized I had to close and open again the control center in order to see the fade-effect (or degradé you may say)
That was it, I thought it was a problem with my kde configuration, but it seems it was just a color scheme that's missbehaving.
Thanks a lot
Saludos

"gradient", or in this case, "vertical gradient". It's used in the KDE Control Centre : Appearances & Themes : Window Decorations (and Backgrounds). |

right, gradient, that's the word I've been looking for (thanks bobcat)
And just for the record, this is the problematic scheme
tux emerge # cat /root/.kde3.4/share/apps/kdisplay/color-schemes/Sas\ Green.kcsrc
[Color Scheme]
Name=Sas Green
activeBackground=49,93,74
activeBlend=115,141,139
activeForeground=255,255,255
activeTitleBtnBg=116,132,115
alternateBackground=226,234,226
background=238,238,238
buttonBackground=238,234,222
buttonForeground=38,75,44
contrast=0
foreground=46,90,53
frame=211,197,190
handle=211,197,190
inactiveBackground=116,132,115
inactiveBlend=116,132,115
inactiveForeground=50,77,50
inactiveFrame=211,197,190
inactiveHandle=211,197,190
inactiveTitleBtnBg=162,184,160
linkColor=14,153,4
selectBackground=74,113,106
selectForeground=255,255,255
visitedLinkColor=38,75,44
windowBackground=255,255,255
windowForeground=83,33,19
If I select it from the control center, and choose apply, everything works fine.
Then I close the Control Center, open it again, and the scrollbars and buttons appear with no gradient
I have to choose another one, apply, close the Control Center and open it again in order to fix it.
Saludos
