hello, i just installed gentoo on a i686 machine with scsi periferals
dmesg shows me this output:

all of that is okay (imo), but what about that "targetx:x:x: asyncronous." stuff?
i really don't know in this case, but isn't asyncronous some kind of a bad word?
as i said, i just don't know...
can somebody please clear things up for me?

It's not a bad thing in terms of data safety. Google found this page http://cynosurex.granax.com/SCSI/SCSI_Technical.html which has a fitting Synch vs. Asynch section.

hmm, thanks for the hint
it looks like synchronous transfer would be much faster
is there a way to "set" the transfer mode somehow?

How are the devices set in the adaptec bios?
