I've read the guide and did what it said. Sound worked right after alsaconf, but when I restarted I get the following error:
Quote: | * Loading ALSA modules ...

* Loading: snd-pcm-oss ...

I'm lost. Apparently, the guide covers what to do for this error but I don't understand what to do. If i delete that directory they want me to delete, then sound will be gone coompletely. What gives? What do I do to fix this? |

if you remove that file, then you'll just emerge it again. What I did to get my sound working was:
emerge alsa-utils
alsamixer (then set the levels and press esc)
Hasn't stopped working since. I had a similar problem with another package. All I had to do was remove the package, emerge sync, and then re emerge the package. Dunno, might work, might not. Good luck wit it! Let me know if this doesn't fix the problem. |
