This is ridiculous, there is no way you will ever come close to installing all the software in portage. Run "emerge -fp <pkgspec>" on the internet-less computer to see where the files needed for <pkgspec> can be downloaded from. _________________ "Mr Thomas Edison has been up on the two previous nights discovering 'a bug' in his phonograph." --Pall Mall Gazette (1889)

Be aware that there are over 20,000 packages in portage... it will never finish, basically. If you want something to do that functionally equivalently, you'd do this, but i HIGHLY dont recommend it... get what you want and thats it.
Code: | # cd /usr/portage
# for x in */*; do emerge --fetchonly ${x}; done |
_________________ emerge --info
Portage 2.1.4 (default-linux/x86/dev/2007.1, gcc-4.2.2, glibc-2.7-r1, 2.6.24-gentoo i686) |

I will try .thanks
I means :
I have a computer ,It can't connect to the internet .but I want to install a gentoo on it .I have a gentoo-2005.1 livecd ,there is portage-2005.1.tar.gz on the cd .but I didn't have any tarballs ,I want to install many softwares, download one by one will waste much time,So I set ACCEPT_KEYWORDS="x86" ,and want to download all the tarballs in the portage that satisfied this Accept_Keywords.I didn't want to download old tarballs or the Newest tarballs ,I just want the tarballs that emerge can install it ,because my computer can not connect to the internet download any tarballs from a Mirror .So I want to download the tarballs and burn them into a DVD ,just like a "small" Mirror. |

But that's what GRP is for, and then you can manually download the few things you need. _________________ "Mr Thomas Edison has been up on the two previous nights discovering 'a bug' in his phonograph." --Pall Mall Gazette (1889)

Quote: | What is the Gentoo Reference Platform?
The Gentoo Reference Platform, from now on abbreviated to GRP, is a snapshot of prebuilt packages users (that means you!) can install during the installation of Gentoo to speed up the installation process. The GRP consists of all packages required to have a fully functional Gentoo installation. They are not just the ones you need to have a base installation up to speed in no time, but all lengthier builds (such as KDE, xorg-x11, GNOME, OpenOffice, Mozilla, ...) are available as GRP packages too.
