Why don't you go the 'normal' gentoo way with a 2.6 kernel and grub? _________________ "Those who deny freedom to others deserve it not for themselves." - Abraham Lincoln

1. Why you consider it to be not normal - 2.4 kernel/lilo?
2. I need to install my soft-modem, so, I need 2.4 kernel...any questions? |

This usually happens if the kernel is missing support for your root filesystem, or is missing support for the controller your harddrive is plugged into.
BTW, These items need to be compiled-in, not built as modules.
Other than that, it is hard to say without some more details about your hardware, and how you configured things. |

I took a peek at your kernel .config
I have never been a fan of genkernel, but it looks like the right options are there for your hardware to boot (at least).
Sorry if this isn't very helpful |

Hm, maybe problem in lilo?
I'll try to install grub, maybe it will be helpful. |
