|
|
Hey, im having a few issues with my new tiscali ADSL connection, we have a wireless network set up with a few computers connected to it, the problem is that the internet takes AGES to connect in gentoo, (talking 10 mins or so) i have just moved to uni, and this setup worked PERFECTLY at home, only difference is the provider and the router.
funny thing is i can ping servers and the DNS works fine, i get no packetloss. Once its up its works fine, just takes ages.
Has anyone had this problem? i thought about timeout issues but as nothing has changed on the system and it worked before i am having a hard time beliveing this is the problem. also, the connection is fine as i am writing this from the same computer just booted into windows, my wireless connection is fine and i get a good signal and an IP address
Thanx guys

How is everything configured i.e. what is connected to what though what?
Are you using PPPOE from Gentoo or is the DSL router taking care of that and you are just getting an IP from the router? |

The router send out the ip address, this is done correctly no problems at boot oddly, one of the other computers on our network, only running windows is having the same problem, i know the internet is working as im writing this post from links2.
Could this be a router problem? even though my windows boot from the exact same machine has no problems? the connection to the router is a wireless one, that had worked accross a different adsl/wireless router in the past with no change of config. i am at a total loss here! any info is appreciated!
Thanx |
