|
|
These nforce-audio drivers are buggy!
media-sound/nforce-audio-1.0.0292-r1 - stable
media-sound/nforce-audio-1.0.0301 - masked
Mplayer won't play some video files if you're using the driver from the stable branch...
workaround: use SDL audio output (this is temporary workaround) If you are using mplayerplug-in for firefox then you are out of luck. You won't have any video output in firefox.
The newer one which is currently masked has a minor flaw (i guess)... When using the masked driver, the right channel is louder than the left channel.
workaround: googled a bit but unable to find workaround yet. If someone knows how to fix this please contribute... probably module paramaters with nvsound will solve the problem (just a guess). I'm currently trying out new possibilities...
UPDATE: according to this site >> http://download.nvidia.com/XFree86/nforce/1.0-0301/ReleaseNotes.html#module_parameters

What's you nforce's version? nf4?
If your is nf4, the problem could be in the kernel, not in these packages. |

You could try the most recent version available: 1.0.306. You could try installing from the binary downloaded from the nvidia site. It installs and works fine here (nforce2). [except some problems with mplayer ] |

Ebuild can be got here. BTW, I have never "emerged" the nvsound drivers,- always done the install using the installer provided by nvidia,- and I have never had a problem. |
