Hello there!
I've recently installed gentoo from a stage1. I think I followed strictly all the steps as described in the gentoo 2005.1 release guide but now I'm having some troubles when booting the system:
- First error: starting lo...no interface module has been loaded
-Second error: Starting eth0...dhcpcd: missing required function interface_is_up
I think I compiled the net modules as part of the kernel and not as modules. Can anybody tell me how can I fix this problems?.
And other question, can anybody tell me which is the ebuild that contains the net utilities such as ifdup, ifconfig, etc.. actually I don't even know if gentoo includes this apps in any ebuild.
Thanks a lot in advance.

These packages should be automatically installed on your system with the install, the package is called net-tools.
When you run ifconfig does it show eth0 as being up? Also does it show lo?

Well, I can't do ifconfig because I don't have that package installed. It's very extrange because I don't think I've selected or deselected anything that could make that this tools are not installed in my distro.
Anyway, I supposed that It was the net-tools package the one that contains those files, but I performed ' equery files net-tools' and only appeared:
* contents of sys-apps/net-tools-1.60-r11:
/bin
/bin/hostname
So I had to suppose that ifconfig, ifup, etc were not included there. Am I wrong?. Why these files don't appear in the query?
Thanks a lot. |
