Mi è capitata una cosa veramente strana !! dopo aver aggiornato all'ultimo xorg e driver nvidia (7676) ho perso l'antialiasing dei font ma cosa ancora più assurda è che mi è comparso un riquadro grigio a centro schermo con la scritta "Volume" !!! Che è sta roba ???
C'è da dire che questa installazione è piuttosto vecchia e sono partito con xfree ! ora dopo l'aggiornamento mi ritrovo in /etc/X11/ un xorg.conf-example e l'xf86Config ! possibile che venga usato il file di xf86 ? io non ho toccato nulla nella configurazione a parte l'update di 38 file che però non mi sembrava avessero nulla di cruciale....
il box grigio è veramente fastidioso !!! non riesco proprio a levarlo ! cosa può essere ?? |

| Ho notato che con xfce4 non c'è traccia del box... (usavo kde 3.4.1!) qualche file di configurazione di kde andato ?? |

Rimuovi tutti i file di configurazione inutili da /etc/X11, ed esegui
per creare un nuovo file di configurazione per Xorg.
Inoltre prova ad avviare KDE con una situazione "pulita", ovvero senza file di configurazione esistenti: sposta o cancella la directory .kde.<versione> (e il symlink .kde), ed avvialo!

| la questione box l'ho risolta... avevo compilato nel kernl "dell laptop support" (ho un dell...) e faceva casino col gestore di suoni di kde... tolto quello tutto ok ! per la questione antialising avevo pensato anche io di rifare la configurazione di Xorg ma dov'è questo file ?? in /etc/x11 ho un xorg.conf.example e basta !! non è che stò usando ancora l' XF86Config ?? come posso verificarlo ??? |

Tu lancia il comando
segui la procedura guidata, e alla fine verrà generato un xorg.conf nuovo di zecca in /etc/X11!
Probabilmente, mancando quello, il server X va a caricare il file etc/X11/xorg.conf.example, che non è nient'altro che un file configurazione di esempio, che tu, volendo, potresti riutilizzare per configurare manualmente il server (basta copiarlo rinominandolo in xorg.conf e lavorare su quest'ultimo file!)
Per vedere che file di configurazione viene usato dal server, apri /var/log/Xorg.0.log, e nelle prime righe dovrebbe esserci un messaggio simile a

In effetti nel file di log che mi hai indicato c'è questo (ho messo quello che mi è sembrato strano....) :

il problema dei caratteri può dipendere da questo ?? ho provato anche a guardarmi l'xorg example ma non ho trovato sezioni riguardanti l'antialiasing dei caratteri..... |
