games are only made with directx coz microsoft give developers companies money and expertise to code for their platform.

Personally, cedega works fine for me for games which are supported - but i do keep a partition of windows, for those nice moment when i want to play COD2, instead of quake4, ut2004, doom3 and Dawn of War - which all work fine on linux
