trying to install proftp got it to emerge fine, but when i try to start it, i get this error:
Error:
Fatal: Group: Unknown group 'proftpd'' . on line 29 of ' /etc/proftpd/proftpd.conf
any help would be lovely.
im a newbie at this. |

cat /etc/group | grep ftp
should return the proftpd group if it is in there. |

No i dont see it at all, i have an ftp::21: but not proftpd |

Then, either create the group proftpd (I don't know how to do that)
or edit the /etc/proftpd/proftpd.conf file to change the user/group under which it will be run, and thus change proftpd by ftp. |

I thought the ebuild made it?
# groupadd proftpd
IF it wants a gid it'll tell you...
With GID
# groupadd -g 666 proftpd _________________ Gentoo HP ProBook 6540b |
