I am using a 6.13.r3 kernel. And Yamaha sound driver
Any ideas?

When in GTK, open up kmix from a terminal and make sure all of the switches are turned on and that the volume is at the highst level. It happened to me, and this solved it.

Couldn't open audio
Please check that
Your soundcard is configured properly
You have the correct output plugin sleceted
No other program is blocking the soundcard
