Hello,

I have recently updated my Gentoo instalation with emerge -uDN and everything worked fine until I restarted.
After that I had a problem with /dev/null permission problem, but I managed to solve it with some help.
But the problem is that from that time I am not able to run X using the startx command as any user but root. All I get is an nVidia logo at startup and then the X server shuts down without any warnings or errors. The same is in the log.
When I tried to create another user with standart user privileges the only change I got was that the X after shutdown said something like "Server shut down with error code 15".

Does someone have, please, some clue where the problem could be and how to solve it?
Thanks.

A problem with /dev/null indicates a problem with udev. Are you using the current stable udev version?

Yes, I am using udev-068-r1 version, which should be the newest version marked as stable.
