I have everything working on my laptop flawlessly except for wireless. I have done a lot of stuff to get to where I am so bare with me while I tell you about it. First I did an emerge rt2500 and that didn't work. Then I redid my kernel cuz that was the problem and it did work. It does not start automatically when the card goes in the pcmcia slot, okay I can live with that. Basicly it sees the card there... lsmod and lspci both show my zonet rt2500 card and the rt2500 modual both loaded successfullly. I thought it odd though that the rt2500 modual doesn't have any programs working with it. I see something like
rt2500 0
If I try to do anything at this point, I run iwlist ra0 scan. It comes back with no results. I then do ifconfig up ra0. It now scans and finds all of my access points. The killer is though that the quality of every station is 0/100. Every single one. I can see the tower from where I am and it still gives me 0/100. Everything ast that point will fail. I can not ping, I can not dhcpcd ra0... I am basicly stuck. I have compiled ieee80211 modules and tried this with and without them.
The kicker is that everything I did got this to work with ubuntu, which was the only reason I tried to swtich but then that really failed, like I had kernel problems and couldn't fix them so I went back to gentoo. I have emerged the latest drivers, and I have manually downloaded and installed them. I get a fun error when trying to do RaConfig2500 or something where it tells me the device driver isn't loaded, but the rt2500 modual shows up. As I said... can anyone help me... I am very very stuck.
Oh yea one more thing... I get tx packets without errors, I don't know what a tx packet is but it increases quickly. |

I just thought of something, could it be possable there is something going wrong with my IRQ's? I rememebr that it shared like 2 others so 3 things were running on the same IRQ, would this mess it all up? Also do I want to have PCMCIA network device support? |

Have you tried configuring /etc/Wireless/RT2500STA/RT2500STA.dat, and just type dhcpcd ra0? |
