|
|
As many forum users on here know I'm a former big time windows uers and well... in windows I became rather proficient with apache, php, and mysql...
welll........ Now its linux... and furthermore gentoo... and the more I read the more confused I am...
Right now, I want to install Apache2 with PHP and Mysql, I want to add support for other stuff as well, but that can wait. Basically, I've followed several walkthroughs and they all become horribly confusing because somethign goes wrong. On gentoo.org, there's one message about bad directories and that gentoo uses a few bad dirs... anyways, I'm confused.. Oh, I want SSL too :p
Also, I'm behind a router and my ISP blocks port 80...
atm I just use rukie.ath.cx:5000.... thats what I did in windows anyways :p
I've seen some stuff called "tunneling" but I'm not quite sure what that is..
Anyways, here I am looking for help.. _________________ Gentoomania! Support the Open Source!

Perhaps if you asked a question someone would answer ... _________________

Well, basically I'm looking for a good clean cut explanation on current ebuild status, a link to a thorough walk through, and any advice...
The reason I'm confused is b/c of this http://www.gentoo.org/doc/en/apache-developer.xml
So I guess my "question" is, links plz? ![Smile :)](images/smiles/icon_smile.gif) _________________ Gentoomania! Support the Open Source!
