Hi everyone.
Newish to gentoo but i've been lurking on these forums for a while and found them very helpful. so big thanks to anyone whos posted in a thread i've read.
I'm getting there with linux now so hopefully i'll be able to start contributing.

Which brings me to my question.....
When it comes to creting ebuilds, can anyone make one and submit it or is there a set of developers who handle all that?

Anyone can make an ebuild and submit it to bugs.gentoo.org. There, it's reviewed by the appropriate developer(s) and possibly accepted into Portage. Read this guide for more info.
In order to have your ebuilds accepted, of course, they have to be written properly. See this portion of the Gentoo Development Guide.

You could always just put your ebuilds in your overlay

Im definatly keen to start giving back to the comunity.
might be a little while because it's just hit exam season here in NZ.
however.... next year i should be starting my fourth year project for university and im wanting to work on a firewall GUI.
something kinda similar to zonealarm to ease the transition of windows refugees to linux but still powerfull enough to keep the gurus happy.
i wont go into too much detail but if i can get it to work the way i want it to then i'll release the code into the public domain so everyone can have a play.
