|
|
I have a new PC here (HP dc7600) that I am having some problems with. I have Fedora on there now and want Gentoo on the second drive. Fedora works fine, but when I boot to the Gentoo LiveCD to start the install, the keyboard stops working. The mouse cursor still moves. I have already tried a different keyboard with the same results.

Do you have a USB keyboard? If yes, did you enable something like DOS emulation in the BIOS? |

I should have mentioned that. The keyboard is PS/2. The BIOS hasn't been touched. |

I also have a dc7600, which gives the same problem. Has anyone figured out why it worked with the KVM switch and not the straight PS/2 connection?
[edit] FWIW, Knoppix has the same problem on this machine. I can't get a decent error message, but it seems to be a problem with the 8205(?) keyboard controller. [/edit] _________________

I had the same problem but solved it by using nousb options when picking kernel. |
