Hi,
I have a question for you.. I have a friend that uses Debian (I will convert him to Gentoo sooner or later :-) ) and he is in troubles with the configuration of his USB ports.. His usb mouse works for a while, then stops working, but it's not a problem of the mouse (the same happens with external hard disks too), I think it is a problem related to the configuration of the USB (it seems that the laptop stops "giving power" to the usb peripherals after a while), perhaps it is due to some problems with the Nforce 3 chipset.. I know that he has not Gentoo on his machine, but perhaps you can suggest me a solution for him, or at least you can tell me some interesting url that can help us..

Thank you in advance!

please confirm it is indeed powering off usb devices (and not powering them on again) if thats the case, try booting with acpi off to see if that helps. I can't imagine its actually got to do with the reverse engineered NForce chipset drivers, because a problem of this magnitude would probably be noticed in a very early stage and corrected.
