Here's two questions about SCSI.

1. I've one machine with two Adaptec SCSI-cards, other is integrated in mobo (AIC-7880U) and another one is PCI-card (AHA-2944UW / AIC7884U). There's some problems of finding disks from the external disk-case on that PCI-card and I'd like to know is there some way to check is it working.
Both are using a same driver (aic7xxx) and I know that the integrated in working cause it's booting on it. And the question is that how could I check that pci-card is working, cause that aic7xxx module is loaded for that integrated chip, so I don't know from the output of 'lsmod '

When I check from /proc/scsi/aic7xxx directory there's 0 and 1 entries, which are showing that the 0 is Adaptec 2944 with no discs and that 1 is Adaptec aic7880 with 4 disks+CD (& that's correct).

So is there some command to check which driver that PCI-card is using to be sure, or is that output of /proc/scsi/aic7xxx/ telling that it's working fine :?:

2. Is there a way to reset or power down the scsi-card and then power it on and scanning the disks again without reboot :?:

I'm overwriting some disks with similar external drive-case as in other question and I'd like power it down after the disks are full and change them to another disks and power it on again. And I'd like to do it without rebooting the machine.

So I think I've founded the answer to 1. question, or at least to that why it didn't find those disks at external case. And the reason for that was that PCI-card is differential and the disk controller in external box is single-ended.

But doesn't anyone have any answer to 2. question :?: (even that is it impossible)

So there aren't anyone who have experience with SCSI (at least just now, ofcourse there is) ?

I think it should be possible to 'turn off' that scsi card/bus, cause I've even heard that it's possible to turn off the PCI bus with Linux and hotplug some PCI-cards (but I think that has to be option in some mobos/bioses ?)

I'm still trying this once and hoping that there's someone with scsi experience here now.

Otherwise I'll let it go and try to find answer from elsewhere
