Has anyone else noticed that programs relying on mplayer keep trying to pull mplayer in as a dependency, _even if_ you have mplayer-bin emerged? Here's some examples:

ksubtile
mplayerplug-in

Is there some way we can stop this from being pulled in as a dependency. Yes, it's easy enough to do "emerge -O ksubtile" once... but every time I emerge world, it tries to pull in the mplayer package, even though I have mplayer-bin. I'm not sure how to go about applying for this change, just wondering if anyone else out there is experiencing this.

You may add mplayer to /etc/portage/profile/package.provided

No, since it's in /etc. Only the files in /usr/portage will be overwritten.
