I,t been like, oh, lets say... only 1 months I can't connect to my ISP with my Gentoo box, althought if I slot in a FREESCO floppy in the drive, it connects just find and dandy. I guess I updated something, and now it's borked.

Anyhow, I have noticed a few things...

First, in the pppoe-3.5-r5, there is something I find odd.
Code:
SRC_URI="...
    ftp://ftp.samba.org/pub/ppp/ppp-2.4.3.tar.gz"
...and...
Code:
DEPEND="net-dialup/ppp
The problem is that ppp-2.4.3-?? is marked ~x86, so I only have ppp-2.4.2 on my system. Can someone confirm they are set the same as me and that it works?

Second, When I check the logs for why it does not work, I can't help noticing that a message appears, saying that the rp-pppoe 3.3 modules as been compiled against ppp 2.4.2. Again, can someone say they have this message while using pppoe-3.5 and that it works anyway?

And third, is pppoe-3.6 radically so different to 3.5 that it will not work with the current baselayout?

Hi technojunky

seems like you played with the file /etc/portage/package.keywords ?

Try this :

1. emerge sync
2. emerge -v pppoe ppp

If this works correctly (no dependencies problem) then your system should work again.

If not, please provide us with more info. Did you use package.unmask ? What about "emerge info" as a good start for us ? :-)

Cheers

Hi,

Thanks for your response.

I have found the problem being a missing "#" in front of a comment line in one of the config files. :? It still eludes me as to how this could happen, but I'm 99,9% sure the human device is in cause. :D
