It hasn't been long enough in the gentoo world to be considered "stable". Usually packages need to be around for a while so people know they're relatively bug free. That's why you can run your system either x86 or ~x86 and decide if you want to have a real stable system (x86) or one on the bleeding edge (~x86)
The same story is true not only for openoffice but for most packages.
Try the keyword ~x86 (assuming you have a x86 proc, other wise ~<your arch>)
either
Code: |
$ ACCEPT_KEYWORDS="~x86" emerge -pv openoffice
|
or add the line
app-office/openoffice ~x86
to the file
/etc/portage/package.keywords
which does the same thing, but makes it permanent.
(You might need to create this file.) _________________ only when it is dark enough, can you see the stars

Cheers, i didn't realize you couldn't do a search on masked packages if it already exists as an earlier stable version. Why wouldn't it just show as a masked package in the search ? Oh well thanks |
