I don't have a /var/log/dmesg or /var/log/messages. Why is my system not creating these? I do have a /bin/dmesg, but that is an executable, so I guessing there is some damen that cats it to /var/log/messages regualrly, but I haven't been able to find what this is in my searches. Thanks! |

Gold Fish,
/bin/dmesg is the program that runs when you type dmesg
The dmesg content is held in RAM until the buffer is full, then its written to /var/log/dmesg
You can tell when thats happened because the dmesg command only shows whats in memory,
the start of the log will be missing. _________________ Regards,
