I'm getting this on multiple systems and after a sync:

Code:
>>> emerge (12 of 28) www-client/mozilla-firefox-1.5_beta2-r1 to /
>>> Downloading http://gentoo.mirrors.easynews.com/linux/gentoo/distfiles/embed-typeaheadfind.patch
--14:38:14--  http://gentoo.mirrors.easynews.com/linux/gentoo/distfiles/embed-typeaheadfind.patch
           => `/usr/portage/distfiles/embed-typeaheadfind.patch'
Connecting to 192.168.0.1:9877... connected.
Proxy request sent, awaiting response... 200 OK
Length: 41,361 (40K) [text/plain]

100%[=============================================>] 41,361        52.89K/s

14:38:17 (52.72 KB/s) - `/usr/portage/distfiles/embed-typeaheadfind.patch' saved [41361/41361]

!!! Fetched file: embed-typeaheadfind.patch VERIFY FAILED!
!!! Reason: Filesize does not match recorded size
Removing corrupt distfile...
>>> Downloading http://gentoo.osuosl.org/distfiles/embed-typeaheadfind.patch

and it does a loop of this....

Your requested version 1.5.1 is about three versions OLD. There are 1.6, 1.6.1? and 1.7.

I believe you're thinking of Mozilla... Firefox is just now getting to 1.5 (in beta). That or Firefox being 1.0.7, not 1.7.

You should try changing your rsync mirror. In /etc/make.conf add or edit the line SYNC="" and add a rysnc mirror from this list.

fixed it.
Code:
rm /usr/portage/distfiles/*fox* && emerge mozilla-firefox
did it, but it took me twice. Apparently, on of the mozilla mirrors has a corrupt package or something, or at least the transfer got screwed up.
