(Yes, I've read around the FAQs as best I can...)
I've written an ftp server and am wondering a couple of things in regard to it and gentoo.
1) Is there some sort of limit as to how mature the software must be before it gets put into the portage tree?
2) It's written in java, would that be a problem?
3) I'm thinking that putting it in portage would be a good way to inform people that it exists, is there a better way to tell people the software exists?
The server, for all those interested, is at http://iftpd.sf.net |

I do not think it will be put in portage just because you made it, I would say it would first need to have some kind of a user base and be known some-what. SF.net is the right direction. |

Write an ebuild for it and submit it to bugzilla.
That's how *any* ebuild gets in there.
An SF page won't hurt, with an uptodate copy of the ebuild.
Oh and don't forget to update the bugzilla entry with updates to the ebuild.

Why ftp though, there are soooo many ftp servers out-there and its so....insecure...eewwww
