I am really confused as to what's going on. my wireless card worked several weeks ago (linux-wlan-ng) and I think it was after I did a emerge -uvD world that it died on me. The only thing that doesn't seem to work really is the dhcpcd. I do dhcpcd wlan0 and it just times out. if I do ifconfig wlan0 up 192.168.0.2, I can ping my router. I've tried other routers and the same thing. Most of the time wlan0 doesn't come up in iwconfig as having wifi extensions, but if I open a eterm and do sudo iwconfig it shows up most of the time. Logged in as root on a console it does not work and even logging in as my user and doing sudo doesn't work. I figured it would be a problem w/ linux-wlan-ng, but I removed all config files and re-emerged with no luck. There don't seem to be any of the older builds in the portage tree anymore. I'm not really concerned about iwconfig as that problem happened w/ the newer version of wireless-tools, so I can probably get an older version and be fine. But what the hell is going on w/ my wireless card? and yes, I did try udhcp w/ no luck. |
