adobe reader plugin stopped working [SOLVED]

Hi, I downloaded AdbeRdr701_linux_enu.tar.gz and installed it. It worked fine for weeks, then all the sudden, it stopped working. I can no longer view pdf's in firefox. It goes, the file downloads, and the plugin never seems to open. If I goto "about:plugins" all the plugins are showing as enabled. I tried re-installing too, no luck. Any ideas?
