Hi!
I just remembered that in the September 5 gentoo newletter ( http://www.gentoo.org/news/en/gwn/20050905-newsletter.xml ) there was a very compact computer mentioned that could be used as a firewall/router. I'm thinking about getting one but I have a few questions first. I want to use it as a firewall/router with some more advanced feature such as QoS by iptables and l7-filter. I want to be able to prioritize traffic according to the type of protcoll. The box is to be used ion a smaller network at home with not more that 4-5 computers behind it. I will probably run the following features on the box:
DHCP
NAT
FIREWALL (probably just iptables)
QOS (With ipfilters and l7-filter)
Will the OpenBlocks be enough for this? Here are the specs:

Or are there any other small, low power computers that can be suitable for this purpose? I liked the OpenBlocks cause of the small size. Anyone knows where to buy this? Preferbly in Europe. Anyone that owns a openblocks coputer that has tried gentoo on it? The are openblocks-sources in portage. |
